Are you an entrepreneur or performer?

Are you an entrepreneur, or performer wanting an audience?

Penzance Youth Market (PzYM), now in its third year, offers start-your-own-business opportunities to young people of Penzance and Penwith; you can discover this project at the PzYM Spring Market, (alongside Pz Charter Market), Sat 28th March 2020, (look for the PzYM yellow lightbulb logo on flags and bunting).
This project, run by Pop Up Penzance CIC and funded by National Lottery, supports and works with young people (age 12-25) throughout the year, with three street markets in Spring, (with Pz Charter Market), Golowan Festival and Christmas Lights Switch On, where young entrepreneurs bring their products to the public for sale.  Alongside stalls, the Busk Stop invites young musicians and performers to showcase their talents (and earn money) making the markets lively, entertaining, and great for shopping.
Other aspects of running the project also offer youth opportunities such as Esme who, age 17, designed our brilliant light bulb logo, or Boundless Brothers who have managed the stage for our live performers. Anyone interested in events organisation, PR/media, photography, social media etc. is welcome on board.
With a strong tradition of micro-businesses in Cornwall, there is surprisingly little business education happening in schools and colleges. PzYM allows young people the real life chance to create a small business, earn money and learn transferable skills such as planning, budgeting, marketing, and dealing with the public.
“Penzance Youth Market is such a great opportunity to show off your talents and to build business skills, or get involved with the market events and publicity. It is very informal and fun and we have several traders and musicians who have been with us over many markets.” says PzYM Co-ordinator Emma Wilson.
