Pensans School hosted a fantastic Literary Festival

Pensans School hosted a fantastic whole school Literary Festival in our super outdoor learning spaces as part of Penzance Literary Festival Week. We had 3 teepees set up on the grounds which had workshops being run by experts for the children to experience woodcraft (Wild Tipi), virtues activities (The Character Tree)and rock pooling (The Rock Pool Project).

For the actual festival day the children from each phase were given a teepee to decorate and present their final outcomes from their projects to their parents and the local community. They looked amazing and all the children took great pride in sharing their learning with confidence.

As well as running the teepees the children all performed in our fantastic amphitheatre. The year 5/6 children had the opportunity to write their own songs and music with Kate Shilson to sing at the festival and our local secondary schools came and shared their musical talents. EYFS shared story telling, Year 1/2 children rapped their own version of Going on a Bear Hunt and Year 3/4 carried out poetry recitals.

Our school bands played beautifully throughout the day and we had local authors and artists, story telling, dancing and Howlsedhes Gwith’s Fighting demo. The children celebrated their successes from the town writing competition. The whole week was an amazing experience for all the children, staff and the community involved.
