Held annually in St Just since 1996, Lafrowda Festival is a celebration of the community arts. This popular festival aims to advance education in arts and culture in the local area and to promote local arts and music to the general public.
The festival culminates in Lafrowda Day which is held on the third Saturday of July and is the finale to a fortnight of family friendly workshops and events ranging from kit and natter to dance shows and performances.
Lafrowda Day itself consists of stalls, live music, delicious food and drink, three community parades with withy sculptures created by local schoolchildren and a torchlit procession. The streets are closed to traffic, street entertainers weave around the variety of stalls and music is provided on two outdoor stages.
Now a firmly established event in the St Just calendar, Lafrowda Festival attracts around 10,000 visitors each year. This year’s festival runs from the 6th to the 21st July and with something for all the family is well worth a visit.
