A lunch to remember at the Victoria Inn

With an array of awards which include the recent accolade ‘County Dining Pub of the Year’ in the 2018 Good Pub Guide and an abundance of glowing reviews The Penwith Eye felt that a visit to The Victoria Inn was long overdue.

Set in the quaint coastal village of Perranuthnoe just a mile and a half from Marazion this country pub which also boasts two bed and breakfast rooms, is run by husband and wife team Nik and Laura Boyle.

We decided to sample the popular Set Lunch Menu; great value with three delicious courses for just £17.50. Upon arrival, we opted to dine in the bar area and were immediately shown to a cosy table beside the window.

Whilst enjoying some complimentary delicious warm home-made bread and butter we opted for the starter named ‘My Grandmother’s Slow Cooked Leg of Lamb’ served with swede pasta, parmesan, cauliflower puree and sweet onion. What a great start to lunch this starter was; beautifully presented with an array of flavours that complimented each other beautifully.

Next came a main course of Primrose Herd Pork Fillet with Smoked potatoes, spinach, celeriac puree and rosemary jus. Again, the presentation of the dish was faultless. The pork was cooked to perfection, the smoked potato mash light and fluffy and the rosemary jus perfectly completed the dish.

With a bit of a sweet tooth I was very much looking forward to the Dessert; Chocolate Brownie with salted caramel ice cream and am pleased to say it did not disappointed, in fact my lunch companion declared it to be “The best chocolate brownie I’ve ever tasted!”

After sampling the delights on the menu at the Victoria Inn it really is clear to see why this dining pub is held in such high esteem by both locals and visitors alike. All three courses were delightful and the service was second to none with friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Here at the Penwith Eye we highly recommend the Inn where you can enjoy fine dining at an affordable price. Be sure to book in advance as unsurprisingly they get rather busy!
